Aor-fm is delighted to announce the signing of cult pomp rockers THRILLS, for a three album deal.

All the members of Thrills, including original drummer, Rob Owens, hail from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1977, the band moved to Long Island, New York where they played on the New York cover band circuit. In 1978, they were voted Long Island's Number 1 band in a Good Times Magazine band poll and three years later First Thrills was released. Signed to G&P Records, the album entered the Billboard album charts Top 200 and featured the single "Breaking My Heart."

To celebrate the release of First Thrills, Thrills was broadcast Live from My Father's Place on WLIR March 17, 1981. Late in 1982, Thrills followed up their critical and commercial success with their sophomore effort Front Page News, featuring the single "Tonight," now considered one of the classic AOR songs of all time.

In 1983, Thrills entered a Los Angeles studio in hopes that Thrills 3 would be a breakthrough album on a National level. After completion of the album, Thrills was left without a record label. Soon after the band dissolved, but in 2000 Rewind released “3” to much acclaim.

In 2008 Aor-fm will complete the reissues discography, releasing "retrospectively" their remaining two albums, and their long lost opus “From Kingdom Come”.

“FrontPage News” has been penciled in for a 2nd of April 2008 release. "First Thrills" including unreleased album "From Kingdom Come" as a bonus disc, will follow in mid May 2008.

All albums have been re-mastered, and limited to 1056, worldwide. "Frontpage News" will include the bonus track "Smiling" and dedicated to the memory of ex band member Bill Gilbert.

The Songs
In my books, it doesn't get any better than the magnificent opening of 'You Don't Remember Me' with its heavy use of pomp theatrics to set the album on its way. 'Don't You Know' features an emphasis on organ work played out in a commercial context. Third track in 'Tonight' is one of
Thrills most recognised tracks, a light and breezy pomp outing, followed by the commercial fare of 'Take A Bite' which borders on piano balladry mostly. 'I'll Be On My Way' is a bouncy fun-filled rocker, whereas
'Teaser' is a slow building track which draws energy to it, so that by the time we reach the end, this one is rockin' out with the best of them! Thrills mix sci-fi lyrics and OTT pomposity for the rather
excellent 'Explorer Time'. Think Angel, Groundstar.. it's all here. The title track starts out with the sound of printing presses, only to taken over by guitars and keys in a musical display of Shooting Star
proportions. 'Follow Your Dream' is another straight-ahead rocker in the Shooting Star vein, it's followed by the racier sounding 'Take Me Away', the keyboard work of Monaco another standout. The album finishes up with the road tested anthem 'High Side of 55', a testament to all those who are speed challenged out on the open road!

In Summary
As mentioned earlier, the band did enter the studio for a third album. They went out to California to record it, recruited a new drummer Linda Mackley, who was another member to join from the band's original homebase of Pittsburgh. The band were hopeful that this third effort would be the album to break them on a national level, however they were left without a label, and the recordings remained locked away until Dane Spencer from Rewind Records played his part to eventually get them
released on his Songhausmusic subsidiary.
And now AOR-FM Records have joined the fray with this release. It goes without saying that all Thrills albums should be compulsory additions. Pick this one up in all its repackaged goodness, with additional material such as photos, liners notes, which are added to the CD but were not part of the original
release. Well done to all involved!

AOR UNDERGROUND. POWERPLAY MAGAZINE, ISSUE 102      Rob Evans

The AOR-FM bandwagon keeps on rolling. This month sees them reissue "Front Page News" by Thrills, one of Pomp rocks finest secrets.

If you have a penchant for that late seventies, early eighties style of Pomp Rock then you need look no further than these boys. Fans of Le Roux, Roadmaster, Axe and especially New England should be ironing their strongest pair of trousers, as you’ll shit yourselves when you hear this little beauty. You want keyboards? This album has got ’em, in spades. It’s like having Guiffria, Mangold and Stanway all in the same room, only better. Originally released in 1981, Thrills sophomore effort spawned the single "Tonight" and the world looked theirs for the taking.

As usual with most bands from that time period, their rise was only momentary. Still, they left us with a great legacy, as the likes of "You Don’t Remember Me" (killer keyboard intro), "Don’t You Know", "Teaser" and the aforementioned "Tonight" will testify. This truly is one of Pomp rocks finest hours. As usual they packaging is exemplary and the album even comes with one bonus cut "Smiling". With the label planning to reissue the debut Thrills album (complete with a bonus album "From Kingdom Come") very soon, it’s a good time to be a Pomp fan.
